The Step-by-Step Home Buying Process:
How much of your budget can you give away to a mortgage? Not to mention property taxes, home insurance costs, down payments, and closing costs. Before you start searching for homes, sit down and figure out how these costs will fit into your budget.
Now it’s time to get a loan. Make sure to shop around for multiple quotes and loan terms so you can find the right option for your budget. Your loan officer can work with you to find an acceptable interest rate and loan term. Once you’re pre-approved, you can finally start searching for homes.
One of our REALTOR®s will partner with you to find your dream home. First, we’ll consider your budget, ideal neighborhoods, types of homes, schools, and other factors that are important to you. Once we find homes you’re interested in, we’ll schedule showings.
There’s a lot involved in making offers. We’ll coach you through bidding, negotiating, and the other finer points involved in buying a home. The whole time that you’re negotiating, we'll be on the lookout for problems with the house that can save you money. Sometimes we can find concessions that lower the house price or eliminate the closing costs.
Home insurance is often required for many properties. These policies pay out for damages to the home, which can include storm damage, flood damage, and more. The cost of your insurance depends on dozens of factors—the home’s age, location, value, insurance company, and more.
A home inspection reveals all the problems, if there are any, inside the property you’re going to buy. You’ll learn about the home’s foundation, HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and more. If there are major problems, you may be able to back out of the purchase and save thousands in repair costs. A home inspection gives you transparency about what’s really inside your home.
Once all the inspections and paperwork are done, it's time for the closing process! Your REALTOR® will guide you through the mortgage documents, the closing costs, and other documents. Then the keys are yours!
